Kabui Bay a Hidden Paradise Full of Mysteries in Raja Ampat. Talking about the Raja Ampat Islands seems to be endless. The extraordinary scenery, traditional stories of the local people, and even interesting experiences during the trip have always been a hot topic for most tourists who have come to Raja Ampat. This is inseparable from how unique and interesting the various tourist attractions in Raja Ampat are. One of the famous and very interesting to explore is Kabui Bay.
Kabui Bay is a bay that is part of Waigeo Island, the largest of the 4 main islands in the Raja Ampat Archipelago. Even though it is located on the same island as the capital of Waisai, getting to Kabui Bay will be easier if you use the sea route. The location of this large bay is quite opposite to Waisai, so that if we go by land, we will encounter difficulties in the interior of the forest which is still closed. On the other hand, if we go through a more open sea route, it will be easier for us to reach Kabui Bay in less than 30 minutes from Waisai port.
The specialty of Kabui Bay lies in the many interesting things that can be found when we explore this area. These interesting objects make Kabui Bay never boring to study. In addition, the relatively easy-to-reach distance from Waisai makes Kabui Bay very popular among tourist hawkers inside and outside Indonesia. Kabui Bay is a special place suitable for anyone who likes adventure in the Raja Ampat Islands region.
One of the highlights when exploring this enchanting large bay is the existence of coral islands arranged into a giant maze. This rock is scientifically known as Karst. The green reflection of the trees also refracts between the Karst and creates shade in the waters of Kabui. The ship that we ride will feel taken into a different dimension full of mysteries to be solved. The calm water surface that splits the tip of the ship makes small ripples around the ship as if welcoming tourists to the walls of the giant coral island which is said to have been formed hundreds of millions of years ago.
These interconnected labyrinths will take us deeper into the most famous icon in Kabui Bay. Clusters of coral rocks protrude on the surface of the calm water and corner the eye towards a coral island that is different from the others. This is the famous Batu Pinsil, a typical icon of Kabui Bay which is often a favorite place to take pictures, both for collections or commercial.
Another interesting place is a cave in the bay area which is only visible at low tide. When the tide conditions, it is certain that this cave will disappear. This cave contains stalagmites and stalactites that are neatly arranged and very beautiful. However, it is not only the beauty that is interesting, the mystery stories of this cave are also very dear to miss. It is said that, according to the locals, this cave is the lair of the Sea Ghost. Apparently, the sea ghost in question is a giant octopus which is now rarely seen in that place.
Not only beautiful on the surface of the water, Kabui Bay also saves the undoubted underwater beauty of the sea. Without having to dive, because of the clear water in Kabui Bay, we can see coral rocks and colorful fish from the boat. What's more, if we decide to dive to a depth of several meters, we will be even more amazed by the atmosphere of the underwater ecosystem of Kabui Bay. However, if diving is considered heavy enough, snorkeling is sufficient to fully enjoy the beauty of this bay.
The best time to enjoy all the beauty of Kabui Bay is in the afternoon when the sun goes down. The orange sky and the blue sea water are a combination that is second to none, enough to be a reason for us to be grateful to the Almighty for this beautiful nature. As a bonus, if we are lucky we can also see some dolphins jumping happily in the middle of the waters of Kabui Bay. This place will be a perfect package in exploring the Raja Ampat Islands region like a hidden paradise that is still full of mysteries.
